Microsite

What the microsite includes

Your microsite lives at fosterling.io/r/your-slug -- a URL path, not a subdomain -- and is made up of several sections. Four are always on:

• Hero -- your logo, org name, and your Mission text
• Adoptable animals -- a preview of your gallery (links to full gallery)
• Get involved -- links to foster, volunteer, and donate
• About & contact -- structured contact info: address, email, website, and social links (not freeform text)

An admin can also toggle on any of these sections:

• Lost & Found
• Upcoming events
• Medical fund cases
• Sanctuary sponsors
• Success stories -- published adoption stories from your Outreach hub
• Updates -- your recent published posts
• Share a story -- a form visitors can use to submit their own story

Your microsite also gets a Partners tab listing local partner rescues you work with, and a Partner Pets tab showing animals crawled in from those partners' sites -- both help send adopters to animals you don't have listed yourself.

Setting up your microsite

   Go to Settings > Branding & microsite.

   Add your Mission -- a short, mission-driven paragraph like "Every animal deserves a loving home." This is the one field that does double duty: it's your hero description on the page, and the preview text shown when the page is shared on social media.

   Upload a hero banner image (optional). Recommended: at least 1400×600px. If no banner is uploaded, the microsite shows a color block using your theme's accent color.

   Choose a theme preset (see below).

   Toggle on any optional sections you want to show -- Lost & Found, Upcoming events, Medical fund cases, Sanctuary sponsors, Success Stories, Updates, and Share a story. Hero, Adoptable animals, Get involved, and About & contact are always shown and can't be hidden.

   Click Save & preview to see how it looks, then Publish to make it live.

Theme presets

Theme presets are available on every plan. A preset controls page formatting and corner style -- it doesn't set colors or fonts. Your color scheme and typography are set independently, from their own fields on the Microsite settings page.

• Classic (default) -- standard card and section formatting
• Rounded -- soft, rounded corners throughout
• Modern -- sharp, minimal corners

Success stories on the microsite

Success stories published from the Outreach hub automatically appear in the microsite's Success Stories section. To add a story:

   Go to Outreach > Success Stories.

   Add or find a story and toggle Publish to gallery on.

   The story appears on your microsite immediately (no republish needed).

Sharing and linking your microsite

Share your microsite URL directly or link to it from your existing website. The microsite is indexed by search engines, so keeping it updated with current animals and stories helps with discovery.

Can I use my own domain for the microsite?

Yes -- it's self-serve. Go to Settings > Branding & microsite and enter your domain in the custom domain field. Fosterling generates the DNS/CNAME instructions you need to add at your domain registrar, and SSL is provisioned automatically once the DNS change is detected, usually within 24 hours.

Can I add more sections to the microsite (e.g., an events page)?

You can toggle on Lost & Found, Upcoming events, Medical fund cases, Sanctuary sponsors, Success stories, Updates, and a Share a story form -- see "What the microsite includes" above. There's no support for fully custom sections beyond that list; for a fully custom website, the microsite is designed to complement an existing site, not replace it.

Is the microsite indexed by Google?

Yes -- it's publicly accessible and crawlable. We include basic meta tags (title, description, Open Graph) automatically from your org profile and theme settings.

What's the difference between the microsite and the adopter gallery?

The gallery is just the list of available animals. The microsite is the full landing page that includes the gallery plus your org story, success stories, and calls to action. The gallery is a section within the microsite.
