Connecting outside assistants

How to connect

   In your assistant, add a new connector and give it the address https://fosterling.io/mcp.

   Sign in to Fosterling when it asks. That sign-in is what ties the connection to your account and your organisation.

   Ask it something simple first, like “which animals are available for adoption?”, to confirm it’s reading the right workspace.

What it can read

• A daily briefing of what needs attention
• Animals, and the full record for any one of them
• Adoption enquiries, and the detail behind any one of them
• Form submissions
• Foster homes and current placements
• Medical work coming due
• Lost pet reports and found pet reports
• Volunteers and upcoming shifts
• Donations
• Care reminders

What it can change

Deliberately very little. An outside assistant can only:

• Update an animal’s status
• Move an adoption enquiry to a different stage
• Create a care reminder, and mark one done

Anything heavier - intake, publishing a form, sending a broadcast, money - is left to the Ops Copilot inside the app, where you get a confirmation step before it happens.

Does this cost extra?

Not from Fosterling. Whatever you already pay for the assistant itself still applies.

Can a volunteer connect their own?

The connection reflects that person's own access, so they'd only see what they can already see in the app. Keep it to admins unless you have a reason not to.

What's the difference between this and the Ops Copilot?

The Ops Copilot lives inside Fosterling and can run almost the whole app. An outside assistant is mostly for reading, so you can ask about your rescue without switching tabs.
