Calendar

The calendar brings your rescue's schedule together -- vet appointments, transport runs, volunteer shifts, and adoption events all in one view. Subscribe to a personal calendar feed to see it alongside your own schedule in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook.

Opening the calendar

Click Calendar in the left nav. Switch between day, week, and month views using the buttons in the top-right. Filter by event type using the chips at the top.

Adding an event

  1. 1
Click New event or click directly on a day/time slot in the calendar.
  2. 2
Pick a category. Vet appointment, Volunteer shift, Adoption event, Transport, and Surrender intake take you straight to that record type's own creation page, so the event is tied to the right record from the start. Custom event is the only category that opens a lightweight form right here on the calendar.
  3. 3
For a custom event, fill in the title, all-day toggle, start and end time, location, and description, then click Save. Custom events don't link to an animal record.
Vet appointment events linked to an animal automatically create a medical record entry on that animal. You can fill in the outcome notes from either the calendar event or the animal's Medical tab.

Getting your calendar into another app

Fosterling doesn't do a two-way sync with your personal calendar app. Instead, it gives you a private, read-only feed you subscribe to -- it stays up to date on its own and includes your shifts, vet appointments, foster check-ins, and vaccine due dates.

  1. 1
Go to Settings > Connected services (Integrations tab) and find My calendar feed, then copy your private link.
  2. 2
Paste the link into Google Calendar (Other calendars > From URL), Apple Calendar (File > New Calendar Subscription), or Outlook (Add calendar > Subscribe from web).
  3. 3
Your Fosterling schedule now shows up alongside your personal events and refreshes automatically as things change.
This feed is one-way and read-only -- editing an event in your personal calendar app won't change anything in Fosterling. Treat the link as private; anyone who has it can see your schedule.

Viewing an animal's appointments

From any animal's record, the Medical tab shows upcoming and past appointments. You can also create a new appointment directly from there -- it pre-fills the animal link.

Can volunteers see the calendar?
Yes -- volunteers see shifts they're scheduled for. They don't see the full calendar with every rescue event.
Can I export calendar events to a CSV?
Not directly from the calendar, but you can export volunteer shift hours from the Volunteers hub. For a full event export, contact support.
What happens to an event if the linked animal is adopted?
The event stays on the calendar as-is -- it isn't automatically updated or removed when the animal's status changes.
