Plans & billing

Fosterling has four tiers -- Solo (free), Rescue, Shelter, and Network. Most rescues start on Rescue; Shelter adds the compliance and transport layer for orgs running real shelter operations at scale.

Starting out on Solo

New orgs start on the free Solo plan -- no trial, no card required. Upgrade whenever you're ready for unlimited animals, AI features, and the rest of the Rescue toolkit.

You can upgrade or change plans at any time from Settings > Billing. You won't be charged until you complete checkout.

Upgrading your plan

  1. 1
    Go to Settings > Billing.
  2. 2
Under Upgrade your rescue, click Upgrade to Rescue, Upgrade to Shelter, or Upgrade to Network.
  3. 3
Enter your payment information in the Stripe checkout window. Fosterling uses Stripe -- your card details are never stored on Fosterling's servers.

Managing your subscription

From Settings > Billing you can:

  • View your current plan and next billing date
  • Click Update payment method to change your card
  • Click Change plan to move to a different tier
  • Click Manage or cancel subscription to cancel -- your org moves back to the free Solo tier at the end of the billing period

These open Stripe's secure customer portal, where you can also download past invoices.

Nonprofit discounts

Registered 501(c)(3) organizations qualify for a nonprofit discount. Verify your status automatically from Settings → Billing — enter your EIN and the discount is applied to checkout instantly. No support ticket needed.

What features require the Shelter plan?
Transport coordination, cruelty & hoarding case management, bite & rabies-quarantine compliance tracking, audit log export, and auto re-crawl of connected sources. Unlimited staff seats also require Shelter. Calendar sync and QuickBooks/Xero accounting sync are available on every paid plan.
If I downgrade from Shelter, what happens to my connected integrations?
Integrations that depend on Shelter-only features are paused. Your data (donations, transport records, etc.) is preserved in Fosterling; it just won't sync going forward.
Is billing monthly or annual?
Both options are available. Annual billing is discounted -- the discount amount is shown on the upgrade page.
Can I get an invoice for my records?
Yes -- past invoices are available as PDFs from the Stripe customer portal (Settings → Billing → Manage or cancel subscription).
What happens if my payment fails?
Stripe retries the payment automatically. If it fails after retries, you'll receive an email and your account will revert to the free Solo plan until a payment succeeds.
