Integrations

Go to Settings > Connected services (Integrations tab) to connect and manage integrations. There's a separate Social posting tab on the same page for Facebook and Bluesky.

Your personal calendar feed (Google, Apple, Outlook)

The real calendar sync in Fosterling isn't an OAuth push to a shared org calendar -- it's a private, per-person subscription feed. Fosterling generates a personal webcal:// link that you paste into whichever calendar app you already use. Your calendar app then pulls your shifts, appointments, and reminders out of Fosterling on its own refresh schedule -- it's read-only, and nothing flows back the other way.

   Copy your private link (or tap the Apple Calendar shortcut if you're on an iPhone).

   Paste it into your calendar app as a URL subscription -- Google Calendar: Settings > Add calendar > From URL; Apple Calendar: File > New Calendar Subscription; Outlook web: Add calendar > Subscribe from web.

This link is personal and private -- anyone who has it can see your schedule, so don't share it. If it leaks, hit Regenerate link to kill the old one.

There's also a separate Connect Google option on the same page. That one is read-only and used for account verification -- it does not push Fosterling events onto your Google Calendar. The ICS feed above is what actually gets your schedule into your calendar app.

Calendar sync isn't gated by plan -- every tier, including Solo, can use the personal feed.

Google (Drive, Docs, Gmail, Forms)

Beyond the calendar feed above, Fosterling also offers separate Google connections for Drive file attachments, Docs templates, Gmail-routed notification emails, and importing Google Forms.

   Sign in with the Google account you want to connect and approve the permissions for that service.

File storage (Dropbox, Box)

Dropbox and Box connectors aren't available yet -- for now, attach files directly (drag-and-drop PDF, Word, or image files onto an animal, application, or fund case) or use the Google Drive/Docs connection above.

QuickBooks Online

Push donation and adoption-fee records from Fosterling to QuickBooks Online whenever you're ready -- there's no background sync running on a schedule.

   Sign in with your QuickBooks Online account and authorize.

   Go to the Donations page and click Sync. Pick a date range and Fosterling pushes every unsynced donation and paid adoption fee in that range to QuickBooks.

Connecting QuickBooks requires an admin or finance role -- it isn't gated by plan tier.

Xero

Same idea as QuickBooks: connect via OAuth, then push a chosen date range of donations and adoption fees from the Donations page's Sync button whenever you want -- there's no automatic background sync. Also just requires an admin or finance role, not a specific plan.

Social posting

Fosterling can post adoption alerts, lost/found notices, and cross-post bios directly to social accounts you connect — no paid third-party service required. Go to Settings > Connected services to connect accounts.

Facebook Pages

   In Fosterling, go to Settings > Connected services and click Connect a Facebook Page.

   Authorize Fosterling in the Facebook dialog. We request only the permissions needed to post on behalf of your Page.

   Your managed Pages appear as connected accounts and become available as posting targets on every animal's card.

Bluesky

   Go to bsky.app > Settings > App passwords and create a password named "Fosterling".

   In Fosterling, go to Settings > Connected services, enter your handle and the app password, and click Connect.

Email marketing (Mailchimp, Klaviyo)

Both Mailchimp and Klaviyo are live integrations. Connect either with an API key from Settings > Connected services (Integrations tab), then sync your donor and adopter contact list into a Mailchimp audience or Klaviyo list for newsletters and campaigns.

Petfinder

Petfinder is a live, always-on, built-in integration -- there's no API key or OAuth to set up. Fosterling auto-generates a Petfinder XML feed URL for your org, refreshed every 10 minutes. Paste it into Petfinder's own import tool and your available animals stay in sync.

   In Petfinder, go to Manage Listings > Import and paste the URL.

The same card has ready-to-paste feeds for Adopt-a-Pet, RescueGroups, a JSON API for custom sites, and an iframe embed snippet -- your public slug needs to be set and public listing turned on under Organization settings first.

RescueGroups

Two-way animal sync with RescueGroups is still in active development. Today, saving your API key gets you ready for that once it ships; separately, your available animals already go out via the RescueGroups CSV feed on the Public adoption feeds card (see Petfinder above).

   In Fosterling, go to Settings > Connected services (Integrations tab) and enter your RescueGroups API key, then click Save.

A few more, briefly

• Shelterluv -- two-way shelter-management sync. Connect with an API key, then hit Sync now to keep animal and outcome data lined up between the two systems.
• Discord & Slack -- paste a webhook URL from either app under Connected services to get ops notifications (new applications, transport requests) posted straight to a channel.

Can multiple team members connect their own Google accounts?

The org-level Google connections (Drive, Docs, Gmail, Forms) are shared across your team. For your own calendar, use the personal ICS feed under Settings > Connected services -- it's per-user, not org-wide.

What happens to my data if I disconnect an integration?

Disconnecting stops the sync but doesn't delete data already synced. For example, disconnecting QuickBooks stops new donations from syncing, but previously-synced transactions remain in QuickBooks.

Is there a Mailchimp or email newsletter integration?

Yes -- both Mailchimp and Klaviyo are live today. Connect either with an API key under Settings > Connected services (Integrations tab), then sync your donor/adopter contact list to it.

Do integrations count against my AI or feature usage?

No -- integration syncs don't consume your AI feature credits. Only AI-powered features (auto-fill, bio drafting, copilot) use credits.
