Scout and her sister Whiskey started their journey on a quiet Texas country road, where they were abandoned and left to fend for themselves. For nearly two weeks, the terrified puppies ran from anyone who tried to get close. Our volunteer, Ashlyn, refused to give up, returning day after day to leave food, talk to them, and show them that humans could be trusted. One afternoon, tired and ready for help, the sisters finally stopped running and let Ashlyn rescue them. Since transitioning into her Paws For Big Hearts foster home, twelve-month-old Scout has completely transformed. This apricot and white Cattle Dog mix is no longer the frightened stray on the roadside; instead, she is a happy, goofy, and affectionate pup who loves everyone she meets. She has adjusted beautifully to house life and is already almost completely potty trained. Scout is incredibly dog-friendly and loves nothing more than a good play session. She and her sister Whiskey are essentially matching personalities in two different bodies, and Scout has proven herself to be a professional wrestler when it comes to playing with her sister and other canine friends. She would thrive in a home with another dog-friendly pup to keep her company and share in her playtime. Now that she is done surviving on the streets, Scout is ready to settle into a forever home where she can simply enjoy being a beloved family pet.
